The prepaid industry has exploded dramatically in the last decade. In prepaid phone cards, alone the growth is significant, yet slowing:
Intelecard News explains, "The prepaid phone card marketplace is maturing. Atlantic-ACM reports that compounded industry growth will decline by 2008 to 9.7 percent, down from 25.4 percent in the years from 1995 to 2002. While there is still significant growth expected, those in the business are well aware that constant negative pricing pressure has created an industry with large revenues — and increasingly thin margins..... But most importantly, the future will see the success of [prepaid] companies that are primarily sales and marketing organizations. It is this understanding, above all, that gives phone card providers an advantage..." One of the greatest marketing advantages in this crowded market is to get a domain name that is meaningful to the target customers. This is even more important, knowing that the industry is approaching dramatic consolidation.

The market for pay-as-you-go wireless is expected to grow to 24 percent of the wireless market by 2008, according to the Yankee Group. The number of wireless subscribers is expected to grow to 31.4 million, an increase of 150 percent, by 2008.
